The Casasa Lab studies the development and evolution of complex traits. We focus on how organisms develop under different environmental conditions (developmental plasticity). Specifically, we study the developmental, genetic and genomic mechanisms that regulate plasticity, and how these mechanisms have evolved. To do this, we combine functional genetics, genomics and transcriptomics using horned beetles and nematodes as model systems to understand the developmental response to nutrition and its evolution.
